Bringing on a new employee can be exciting, but there’s often a lot to do as well. You want to onboard your new hire as quickly and smoothly as possible to ensure their success at your organization. But before you get started with onboarding, you’ll need to register your company with the state of New Mexico.
Register your business in New Mexico in two easy steps:
- First, you’ll need to apply for a CRS ID with the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department online.
- Next, you’ll need to register online with the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.
You should receive your CRS ID the same day that you apply and your Employer Account Number immediately after applying. Once you’ve received your Employer Account Number and CRS ID, you’ll be able to register new employees, file wage reports, and submit unemployment taxes online. Remember, in New Mexico, you are generally liable for unemployment taxes if you have paid $450 of wages in a calendar quarter or if you employed someone for a portion of a day in each of 20 different weeks in a calendar year.
